Red River Software’s story began in 1978, when two owners formed a partnership to develop software in Fargo, North Dakota.

With agriculture abundant in the region, the partners set out to solve inventory tracking issues for sellers of farm equipment. As word spread about Red River Software, a local fuel oil dealer requested a program that would assist in tracking agricultural, commercial and residential deliveries. In response, Red River Software developed what we know today as the RRS Fuel Package, including Degree Days, Will Call Customers, and Keep Fill modules.

The continued growth of Red River Software occurred in much the same organic way over the years. As clients’ businesses expanded, Red River Software developed solutions to meet the needs of their new and/or growing businesses, including the addition of software packages for cooperatives in the 1980s and convenience stores in the 1990s and early 2000s.

In an effort to reduce customers’ upfront costs and required hardware, Red River Software became one of the first developers in the agriculture and fuel industries to move to the cloud and offer a Software as a Service (SaaS) option.

Red River Software is proud of its 30+ years of growth and continues to develop innovative and practical solutions for its customer base.
